Paula Dean Set For 'Today' Wednesday

Paula Dean
Paula Deen has cooked up many tasty dishes for the Today show audience but viewers won't be tuning in to watch her chef skills when she appears on the show this Wednesday (June 26th.) The former Food Network star has agreed to sit down with Matt Lauer after bailing on her scheduled interview with him last week.

Matt announced on Monday's show (June 24th,) "She has told us she will be here this time." The topic of discussion is likely to be the $1.2 million lawsuit filed by a former employee accusing Paula and her family of using racial slurs and other offensive behavior at her restaurant in Georgia which ended up costing Deen her job at Food Network last week and is rumored to be causing issues with her deal at QVC as well.
  • Another former employee of Paula's revealed to Radar Online that he and several other African-American employees at her restaurant were reportedly forced to work at parties at her home and were only compensated with beer and alcohol. He claims that their jobs were threatened if they refused to work the extra gigs.
  • Smithfield Pork Company has announced that they have decided to cut ties with Paula by releasing a statement saying, "Smithfield condemns the use of offensive and discriminatory language and behavior of any kind. We are terminating our partnership with Paula Deen. Smithfield is determined to be an ethical food industry leader and it is important that our values and those our spokespeople are properly aligned."
  • TMZ caught up with Rev. Al Sharpton who expressed his belief that Paula should be judged on what she is currently doing and not something she may have said 20 years ago.
  • A "We Support Paula Deen" Facebook page has popped on Friday (June 21st) and has already acquired nearly 300,000 likes.
